DEAD SOURCE

Privacy Policy

What Dead Source collects, what it does not, and why the difference matters.

App Dead Source Developer Big Screen Entertainment Pty Ltd Effective 05 / 08 / 2026 Updated 05 / 08 / 2026

The short version

There is no account, no advertising, no third-party tracking, and no profile of you. The entire story runs on your device and the game is fully playable offline.

Dead Source does send anonymous product analytics — which screens are reached, whether a purchase succeeded — so we can tell where the game loses people. Those events carry a randomised, hashed identifier and no personal information.

Nothing you type into the game is ever transmitted. Not to us, not to anyone. That is a design rule, not a policy promise, and it is enforced in the code.

Information we collect

What never leaves your device

The conversation is the whole game, so this is the important part.

What is sent

Dead Source uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, to record anonymous product events — for example that a scene was reached, that a decision timer expired, or that a purchase completed or failed.

WhatWhy
Which scenes and screens are reached, and where a run endsTo find where the game loses people, and whether the endings are actually reachable
Purchase, restore and refund outcomes, including the error when one failsTo detect broken purchasing before customers have to report it
Device model, OS version, app version, language and countryStandard technical context, collected automatically by the analytics service
A pseudonymous installation identifierTo count unique players rather than raw events

The installation identifier is derived from an Apple-provided, vendor-scoped device identifier and is hashed before it leaves your device. It is not your name, your email, your Apple Account or your advertising identifier. It is not linked to any account, because there are no accounts. It is not combined with data from any other company, app or website. It resets if you delete all of our apps from the device.

We are describing it plainly rather than calling it "anonymous" because it is what makes counting distinct players possible, and you should know it exists.

Advertising and tracking

NONE

Notifications

The story pauses between chapters and resumes later, so the app can send you a notification when a message is due to arrive.

Purchases

Dead Source offers one optional non-consumable purchase that unlocks the rest of the story. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit.

Third-party services

The app contains one third-party component: the TelemetryDeck analytics SDK, described above. TelemetryDeck processes the events on our behalf and does not sell or share them. Their privacy policy is at telemetrydeck.com/privacy.

Everything else the app touches is Apple's own infrastructure — the App Store for purchases and iOS for notifications — governed by Apple's privacy policy.

Data retention and security

Analytics events are retained by TelemetryDeck under their retention policy and are only ever seen by us in aggregate. Because the events carry no personal information and no account, there is no record we could connect back to you.

Everything the game creates — your save, your settings, your transcript — stays on your device, protected by iOS file protection and app sandboxing.

Children's privacy

Dead Source is a psychological thriller rated for teens and above, and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, there is nothing held that could identify a child, and nothing to delete.

Your rights

Laws including the GDPR, UK GDPR, the Australian Privacy Act and the CCPA/CPRA grant rights to access, correct, delete, port or restrict the use of personal data, and to opt out of its sale or sharing.

We hold no personal data that identifies you, and no account that could be looked up. There is nothing for us to produce, correct, export or delete on request, and nothing is sold or shared for advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of.

If you want analytics to stop entirely, deleting the app stops all collection immediately. If you would like written confirmation of any of this for your records, contact us below.

Where we would otherwise act as a data controller for the anonymous analytics described above, our lawful basis is legitimate interest in understanding how the product is used and in detecting faults, balanced against a design that collects no personal information and permits no tracking.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and post the revised version at the same address. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
